Hey all,

Here is a guest post from perry noble.

Perry Noble is the founding and senior pastor of NewSpring Church in Anderson, Greenville and Florence, South Carolina. At just nine years old, the church averages over 10,000 people during weekend services and is launching another campus in Columbia, South Carolina. Perry is convicted about speaking the truth as plainly as possible. A prolific blogger, he’s also the author of Blueprints: How to Build Godly Relationships.

Here is how you can know your church is in trouble or heading towards it.

1. When excuses are made about the way things are instead of embracing a willingness to roll up the sleeves and fix the problem.

2. When the church becomes content with merely receiving people that come rather than actually going out and finding them…in other words, they lose their passion for evangelism!

3. The focus of the church is to build a great church (complete with the pastor’s picture…and his wife’s…on everything) and not the Kingdom of God.

4. The leadership begins to settle for the natural rather than rely on the supernatural.

5. The church begins to view success/failure in regards to how they are viewed in the church world rather than whether or not they are actually fulfilling the Great Commission!

6. The leaders within the church cease to be coachable.

7. There is a loss of a sense of urgency!  (Hell is no longer hot, sin is no longer wrong, and the cross is no longer important!)

8. Scripture isn’t central in every decision that is made!

9. The church is reactive rather than proactive.

10. The people in the church lose sight of the next generation and refuse to fund ministry simply because they don’t understand “those young people.”

11. The goal of the church is to simply maintain the way things are…to NOT rock the boat and/or upset anyone…especially the big givers!

12. The church is no longer willing to take steps of faith because “there is just too much to lose.”

13. The church simply does not care about the obvious and immediate needs that exist in the community.

14. The people learn how to depend on one man to minister to everyone rather than everyone embracing their role in the body, thus allowing the body to care for itself.

15. When the leaders/staff refuse to go the extra mile in leading and serving because of how “inconvenient” doing so would be.

Where did Halloween come from? Can a Christian celebrate it?

by Matt Slick

Halloween is celebrated by millions of people as a fun time for kids, putting on costumes, and going door-to-door to get candy. But it is also known as a time of witches, ghouls, goblins, and ghosts. On one hand, some see halloween as a harmless time of fun and on the other, a ghastly and demonically inspired night to be avoided.

As Christians, there is a lot of debate on whether or not we should participate in Halloween. Is it alright to go trick-or-treating? Can we dress our kids up in costumes on that day? If we do any of this, are we celebrating an evil holiday?

Halloween’s Origins

The word Halloween is derived from the term “All Hallows Eve” which occurred on Oct. 31, the end of summer in Northwestern Europe. “All Saints Day,” or “All Hallows Day” was the next Day, Nov. 1st. Therefore, Halloween is the eve of All Saints Day.

Apparently, the origins of Halloween can be traced back to ancient Ireland and Scotland around the time of Christ. On Oct. 31st, the Celts celebrated the end of summer. This was important because it was when animal herders would move their animals into barns and pens and prepare to ride out the winter. This was also the time of the crop harvests. This annual change of season and lifestyle was marked by a festival called Samhain — pronounced ‘sow-ane’ and means ‘end of summer.’ Sow rhymes with cow.

There was much superstition associated with this time of change including the belief in fairies, and that the spirits of the dead wandered around looking for bodies to inhabit. Since the living did not want to be possessed by spirits, they dressed up in costumes and paraded around the streets making loud noises to confuse and frighten the spirits away. In addition, the new year began for the Celts on Nov. 1. So, the day of Samhain was believed to be a day that was in neither the year past or the year to come. Since it was in between, chaos ruled on that day. Often, people would pull practical jokes on others as a result.

Later, around the 5th century, as the Catholic Church developed and moved into the area, instead of adding a new day to celebrate, it took over the Samhain celebration. Nov. 1st became “All Hallows Eve” where all the saints of the Catholic church were honored. A later custom developed where people would go door-to-door on Nov. 2, requesting small cakes in exchange for the promise of saying prayers for some of the dead relatives of each house. This arose out of the religious belief that the dead were in a state of limbo before they went to heaven or hell and that the prayers of the living could influence the outcome. This may have been the precursor to Trick-or-Treat.

The Jack-O-Lantern apparently comes from Irish folklore about a man named Jack who tricked the devil into climbing a tree. Once the devil was in the tree, Jack carved a cross on the trunk, preventing the devil from coming down. The devil then made a deal with Jack not to allow Jack into hell after Jack died if only Jack would remove the cross from the tree. After Jack died, he couldn’t go to hell, and he couldn’t go to heaven. He was forced to wander around the earth with a single candle to light his way. The candle was placed in a turnip to keep it burning longer. When the Irish came to America in the 1800’s, they adopted the pumpkin instead of the turnip. Along with these traditions, they brought the idea that the black cat was considered by some to be reincarnated spirits who had prophetic abilities.

So, it appears that the origins of Halloween are a mixture of old Celtic pagan rituals superstition and early Catholic traditions.

What does the Bible say about Halloween?

What does the Bible say about Halloween? Nothing. But it does speak concerning witches, the occult, and paganism.

Exodus 22:18, You shall not let a witch live.

Deut. 18:10-12, “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD…”

The Bible definitely speaks negatively about occultic practices, spirits, and witches and condemns not only the practice but also the people who are involved in it. As Christians, we are to have nothing to do with the occult. Tarot Cards, contacting the dead, séances, lucky charms, etc., are all unbiblical and can harm a Christian’s fellowship with God and open the Christian to demonic oppression. Most Christians know this and avoid these activities. But, the question still remains. Since there are ancient pagan connections and present occultic connections, what is the Christian to do?

Can the Christian celebrate Halloween?

The answer is simple: Yes and No. Let’s look at the negative first.

The Christian is not to be involved with or support the occult, witchcraft, demonism, or any other thing that uplifts the occult. To do so is to contradict God’s word, dabble in demonic spirits, and invite judgment from God. If a Halloween celebration is centered on demons, devils, spirits, etc., I would say don’t have anything to do with it.

On the other hand, it isn’t wrong to dress up in a costume and go door-to-door saying “Trick or Treat.” Provided that the costume isn’t demonic, I can’t see anything wrong with this. It’s just fun for the kids.

Take a look at the Christmas tree. It was originally an ancient fertility symbol. Yet, it has become a representation of Christmas and the place where gifts are placed. Are the Christians, then, paying homage to an ancient pagan fertility god? No. Not at all. They do not consider it pagan at all and are simply joining in on a cultural event and giving no honor to anything unbiblical.

In the Bible in 1 Cor. 10:23-33, Paul speaks about meat sacrificed to idols. This meat was often sold in the meat market and the question arose, “Should a Christian each such meat?”

Paul said in verse 25, “Eat anything that is sold in the meat market, without asking questions for conscience’ sake.” This is most interesting. He says it is okay to eat the meat bought in the market place even though that meat may have been sacrificed to idols.

Then in verses 28-29 he says, “But if anyone should say to you, ‘This is meat sacrificed to idols,’ do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for conscience’ sake; 29 I mean not your own conscience, but the other man’s; for why is my freedom judged by another’s conscience?” (NASB). Paul is saying that if you find out the meat was sacrificed to idols, don’t eat it — not because of you, but because of the other person. In other words, eating that meat won’t affect you. But, it may affect the attitude of another who does not understand the freedom the Christian has in Christ.

Is it any different with Halloween (or Christmas)? No. Even though Halloween has pagan origins, because of your freedom in Christ, you and/or your kids can dress up in costumes and go door-to-door and just have fun. However, if you are not comfortable with doing this, then you should not. If you know of a person who would be hindered by doing it, then you shouldn’t either.

Unusual with God!

Posted: June 6, 2011 in Uncategorized

A major part of my Christian life was spent on reading stories and watching revival outbreaks! I enjoyed every bit of it and dreamt of revival in my Generation and I still do! We have seen revivals in churches, streets , camps etc, what if the next visitation of Jesus can turn the whole city to a CHURCH? God can!

Revival is a consequence of  intense prayer and expectation for the unusual experience with God. However the disciples before the Pentecost were led only to seek the face of God. They were not informed about the external manifestations but still they gathered in one accord to pray. They were promised about the visitation of the Holy Spirit. Church was in the mind of God. But something” unsual” took place to which they were not in control of!  The place was packed with the power from above!

They had no protocol set for the day, No church managements, No G12 cell group meetings but  the church( 3000 people) was born in a MOMENT! 3000 people walking into the kingdom!

Check the same with moses- He encounters God in the desert, Receives the commission and surrenders to God( May your presence lead the way)! Result? – 2million souls was entrusted to him in one shot! He brought a nation out a nation!

Can God entrust a nation in your hands?

Is your prayer so intense that God himself cant wait to visit you? How strong is your prayer life today?

You are born to encounter heavenly visitations! Prayer is not just a dialogue between you and God, its an expression of hunger for God.

I remember reading a revival testimony of Tommy Tenney, author of book God chaser. One Sunday, He had invited a guest speaker for the service. Tenney sensing something strong in the spiritual atmosphere retreated to the back of the auditorium. With NO warnings he heard a loud cracking in the stage that jolted the audience. At that same instant the church pulpit split in half and fell of the carpet and the speaker was thrown back several feet away. The whole church began to respond with fear. There was no logical explanation for what happened. The company that manufactured pulpit said it was made of a polymer material and is’nt supposed to crack even under hundreds of pounds of pressure! God had just visited them!

Do you crave for unusual experiences or simply follow the church protocol? There’s much difference when the groom meets the bride than listening to a prophet in the house! Lets allow the Holy Spirit to reorder us and prepare for us the coming move of God!

Are you ready for a revival?  Here is the formula- Intense prayer(genuine seeking) + visitation= Revival!

On March 11, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake occurred off the east coast of Japan. A subsequent tsunami struck the coast, killing thousands of people and causing serious, widespread damage to buildings, roads, and power lines, particularly along the east coast of the Tohoku region. Nuclear power plants damaged by the earthquake and tsunami have emitted radioactive material into the environment.

Can God be responsible for such an act of disaster? If NO, then who can it be? , Question remains to fight for an answer by millions across the globe!

The bible is very clear about these days of darkness in our time. This was spoken ahead of time for our hope.

1.Can God allow such thing as this? and why?

The bible says in Luke 21.25 “”There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.”

Jesus has spoken about these end times well in advance. Now read the verse clearly, these are just the “signs” in the heaven the verse says.  Now what does the sign board do? Its an indication to place you want to go or get information about, eg; Danger zone, drive slow -bump ahead etc.

God is showing these disasters as a some form of signs to the mankind. What it could be?  Read..

The bible shows us that sin always attracted the judgement or the wrath of God , in another words it is it’s prime consequence. Our generation is in a greater place of judgment today not because we know what sin can do but loosing the very consciousness of it . Time and again, judgments of God send an awakening or wake up call to an unrepentant sinner that there is greater judgement coming of losing eternity if he does not turn back to God wholeheartedly.

Am i saying Japanese are worst sinners comparing to places where tsunami has never been? NO!  It’s a SIGN for us as well. Did Japan had the sign? Yes i believe it did.

There are three things I want to highlight as to why mankind reaps these Judgments.

1. Self righteouness  2. No fear of God  3. Rejecting the Grace of God.

Before I head to explain these three things, I want to first clear your thoughts about God imputing his wrath on people.

The bible says God has already judged his own son in place of us. God satisfied his wrath over his creation on His son Jesus making him an atonement for our sins on the cross ,so he can impute His righteousness to us.( 2 corith 5.21).  Hence, it was the graceful act of God to live in peace with the mankind forever. He never came to shame sinners but SAVE sinners. He is no more judgmental about you. He loves you like He loved His son Jesus.

Now the blood of Jesus offers us protection from all judgement. No curse in hell can touch anyone who is under the blood of Jesus. The protection is provided. Grace and mercy longs to meet us. But It is we who resist his grace to come us and save us from sin and consequences of it. You can be in a flood drowning and crying for help and when you see a man with a boat trying to rescue you, you can simply say NO and drown or humbly receive his help. Grace comes to us in the time of our need- Heb4.16

God never imputes judgement on anyone. It’s the consequence of sin and rebellion, it’s never God. Same way eternity is our choice to accept his gift or reject it.

1.Self righteousness:

what is being self righteousness?

Self righteousness is “the” form of pride. Considering morally superior than others. Biblically ” being Independent of God”

Here are the verse highlights its sting of rejecting God’s righteousness.

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Few more verses,

Proverbs 20:6

“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?”

Proverbs 30:12

“There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness’

Hateful to God :

Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

Anything you love or worship equal to or above God is an idol likewise anything you TRUST equal to or above God is Self righteousness.

You don’t really have to conscious about its sting, but it is right there. Trusting over strength, money, technology etc above God attracts judgment like the one we read in the book of Job , his life story. Spiritually it can also do with the self cleansing of guilt and shame of sin. Judas was an example of that. He wanted to justify his case by punishing himself and the result was suicide even after knowing Christ came to save and not condemn. When we act upon our self righteousness , the results are disastrous.
Therefore, Self righteousness is being independent of God. No prayer life, No respect for the word of God, infact God is the second option. Wake up! This cannot save you in time of your need.
2.Fear of God:
Its an indeed foundation of our  journey to meet Jesus. It’s an ABC of all spiritual wisdom we can acquire. Fear of God is to honour God before everything, to make sure He is kept first in our mind and actions before we launch to do anything. Our worship is only pure when we truly possess the fear of God. When man begins to loose it, an idol is given birth in his heart. You can’t worship God unless you love, revere or fear Him first. Fear of God in our hearts positions God as an almighty in our lives and there’s no other.
Judgment that fell on Ananias and Sapphira.
Acts 5:3-4
In this scripture, the apostle Peter stated, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own power? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied unto men, but unto God.”
Now,is Giving a “good” thing? –Yes but a “Lie”- No. Continue to read… verse 5
“….When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened
You may posses great qualities of character but if you do not have the “Fear of God”( Life right with God) you will be judged. Wake up before it’s too late. Set your life right with God. Practice the fear of God every day! When God sends judgments like this , it produces fear for His name.
3. Grace of God:
Heb4.16: ” Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

God wants to establish an intimate relationship with you. Not to visit him but to inhabit his very heart. Secondly with confidence and total assurance that he will no away judge you but show you the love without measure. Notice the verse says, you will find GRACE in time of need. Your time of need(present or future) can be any, can be your sickness, financial crisis , loss of something or even forgiveness. You will be strengthened when you find Grace. But the condition is that you come to him, you draw closer to him only then he assures you to give such grace over your failures! Depending on His grace  makes us draw more closer to him.
I love the verse.. “let us then approach”. It’s about drawing ourself closer and closer and when the day of need ( calamity or famine)arrives your father will not be silent, he will back you up, he will cover you from all evil force cause you have invested your heart in His presence.
Amos 4.8 “People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink, yet you have not returned to me,” declares the LORD

Hosea 7:10 “The pride of Israel testifies to his face; yet they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him, for all this.

Isaiah 9. 13 “But the people have not returned to him who struck them, nor have they sought the LORD Almighty”

The issue was that they never came to him for help, they never came seeking His heart and the destruction followed them sooner the later.
Dear precious one’s, our prayers & thoughts are with the people of Japan and the rest of the world, more importantly is to come to God is our ultimate source of hope and healing. Yes! He will restore back everything that has been lost.
God is never the author of destruction , he has plans to prosper us and not to destroy us. Let us return back with repentance, fear of the lord and come closer to him so we may find grace. If you are someone who have not accepted Jesus as your personal saviour, accept him into you life and you too will experience the same grace from now to the eternity.
My heart shall only seek what God is joyful about. Then His joy becomes my solid and never fading strength.

Would you help me share this article to the world? you can post this article on your facebook, blogs and other websites. Let the world know Jesus saves and loves us!

Conversation with God!

Posted: March 19, 2011 in Uncategorized

Hello there!

Hope you are blessed and progressing in His favour!

I had an Amazing conversation with God this morning. Nothing like when God speaks directly to your heart, its breathtaking and keeps your day up and going with new strength and Joy! Hope you find this blessed and applicable for yourself as well.

God has been speaking about the vision of my near future , infact showing the bigger picture of where I am heading to from a little things am doing for him now. I had nothing but 2 things going inside me, One is tears and second the word- IMPOSSIBLE!

I’ve learnt of the fact that most of the time God does not speak or show you something that’s within your limits of understanding , strength or even the measure of anointing you carry. It simply makes Him GOD when you see no one can fulfill or show something that is outside your capacity to handle. Honestly, I was nervous, too cautious of my reputation etc etc.

I asked him- What if all this never works? what will people think? I don’t think I’ve have enough faith to operate such a calling in the area of supernatural, what if my faith fails?

He said-” Are you willing to risk your reputation for my name sake?

Then I replied-” What if i fail won’t my reputation hurt yours?

He replied –“You reputation is not linked to mine, but it’s my reputation that is linked to yours and will carry you through”

Saints, do you remember the scriptures, where it says…. the lord CONFIRMED His word with signs & wonders?

The other day, I had Evangelist brother Ram Babu text me – God does not need our defense, we just got to obey and He will defend us!

It’s true that many believers don’t want to risk themselves in obeying God because of being mindful of themselves.

For Eg: If sick person is laid before you, you don’t really want to pray and believe till he/she is healed and testifying. Ask whats stopping you from it, you will know what i’m saying.

Infact we do not have a reputation , we are dead to the world and made Alive to Jesus. Even if you had failed like peter after walking on the water for a little time and fall seeing the wind, our Good lord will save you from that fall. He saves those who takes a step of faith and come to Him. Let nothing hinder the powerful grace of God working in and through you. Lets catch the bigger picture of what God wants to accomplish in and through us. The world is waiting for you!

Lots of Love, Danston John

Revival Movement!

Posted: March 6, 2011 in Uncategorized

We have preached about it, sang, prayed ,believed and now it’s time this Generation SEES the results. I believe when God shows up, he shows up with fruits of our day and night seeking of what we prayed for!

There’s a bridge between dreams and results and that is never giving up on faith what i call is taking Holy RISK! Unfortunately majority are still stuck with their age old dreams and sadly they may never see it because of lack of faith( not lack of prayer).

U see, in the Book of acts, Communion with God always produced boldness (faith) and faith is ONLY applied to take risks. Faith is not for cowards but for the courageous. I often keep hearing believers pray but never work out what they pray in real lifestyle. Peter only saw the glory of God when he CAME OUT of the boat of the comfort lifestyle and ended up walking on water. He never prayed another prayer but simply he knew its time to test my faith and act upon the voice of the master -“COME”.

When we feel the presence of the master, its time to walk on the water- Nathan Morris.

Sadly, we see most of fighters of the injustice in society today are not believers, why do thousands still flee to so called “peace” gathering held by secular artists? It’s because they have NOT TASTED the work of God. Infact we have failed to do so and they have taken our place!

Lets look into the lifestyle of disciples of the early church. Jesus told them to wait in Jerusalem UNTIL they have been empowered. We see it fulfilled in the day of Pentecost where the Holy Spirit visited and empowered them. They enjoyed all that was happening at the Jerusalem temple. In Acts 3 we read John and peter walk towards the temple and on the way they meet a sick man. Now why was not this sick kept inside temple? I’m sure temple was not empty and there enough believers praying. This sick man never took an appointment. Peter were so used to the work that was happening inside temple. They went there to pray. But God interrupted their “prayer’ meeting and turned their focus on the sick man. It was like God saying to peter- enough you have prayed and sang and now it’s time you see it coming for REAL!

I believe this sick man was kept ON PURPOSE by God outside the temple gates, so that everyone around would see the glory of God through this healing testimony. It was an unexpected appointment but it drew thousands again to salvation. Yes, thats the true revival when we follow the agenda of the Holy Spirit. We stop where He asks us to stop and do what He wants us to do. Revival is never limited to prayer or missions, its simple following his divine directions.

Do you pray for revival and you have never worked it out?

Have you ever prayed for blind eyes to open , deaf ears and dead to rise and you never even been to any of these yet?

Is your faith producing fruit? Is it bringing the restoration to the sick and the lost?

If you are truly inspired by God in the area of Revival then you are the man or a woman who believes in faith in action!

Now is the time. Don’t be ashamed or discouraged if you had to go through trials or failures in operating your faith. It’s a process. Practice your faith on the sick till you see him or her healed. Other day, when i was at the prayer hall, i asked my friend who happened to knew to play the keyboard to play. His replied saying- I haven’t been playing for a LONG TIME , so i’m not sure if i can play better. U see what you haven’t done for long time becomes a challenge when you are given an opportunity to do so. If you haven’t practiced your faith praying for the sick, using the prophetic gift or it can even be preaching the Good news you will always find it hard when it comes to do it in reality.

Discouragement, doubts and skepticism is all part of the process. You can’t avoid them. Know your role and break in till you have a break through!

God bless,

Danston John.

End time global harvest…

Posted: October 14, 2010 in Uncategorized

God gave Adam &eve some commandments in the garden of eden- Be fruitful, multiply and take dominion over the earth. Right from the beginning God gave man a global vision for the harvest. He made him a KING over all the creation. We see  how God scattered people who took part in building the tower in the city of  babel by confusing their languages and scattering them upon the face of the earth. God’s plan for man was global dominion.

We read the same in mark 16.15- ‘Go into all the WORLD and preach the gospel to every creature…” Again we see the global picture in the vision God gave the disciples. But after the pentecostal movement took place, disciples and the newly converts began to enjoy all the things God was doing in Jerusalem, God had to send the persecution for them move from one city to the other so the message of the Gospel can be spread and nations would be saved.

Are you today facing any discomfort in your life? work place? church etc? God wants you to step out and bless someone with the Gospel. We are not a sitting church but the  moving church. Jesus did not say sit or wait .. but GO!

In habakkuk 2:14 “For the EARTH will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea’.
